Days gone by…

September 27, 2008

I have a new laptop!  (Thanks, mom and happy early 30th to me).  The most important part of this is that I now have photo editing equipment, so hopefully I’ll be able to do more work (i.e., do more work and get paid for doing it more regularly… or get paid, period).  To kind of kick off this process and relearn how to use PhotoShop, I’ve been going through old negatives and having them digitized.  As I’m looking back over the pretty large body of work that I’ve put together over the past lots of years, I realize there’s not much that makes me happier than being able to take pictures and I miss doing it as often as I was able to when I was in college…  All of the photos in this post were taken during my time at Scripps and are each, in some way, associated with my college experience.

The first two I’ve just submitted for the first annual DC FotoWeek contest (wish me luck):

This is a photo that I’ve decided is probably my favorite portrait – ‘Counting Lemons’

This is the interior of the library at Scripps, which is in real life even more beautiful that it looks here:

One of my other favorite portraits – Scripps’ (former) president, Nancy Bekavac…  It’s impossible for me to look at this picture without smiling – and thinking of Thanksgiving (note the turkey sweater):

This is the daughter of one of my professors, who pretty much became a little sister to me, and the family dog.  I have a series of three pictures taken at this time; this is my favorite.

And one last one from the library… I like how much detail can be seen in the glass panes (I hope that shows up here).

I hope everyone’s having a nice weekend.
